FAQs

How to create an eInvoice online?

  • You can create an e-Invoice online through the MyInvois Portal or through accounting software connected to MyInvois. The basic process is to enter the supplier, buyer and transaction information, submit the e-Invoice to LHDN for validation, then share the validated invoice with your customer.

  • With Duitbooks, you can create your invoice, submit and track the submission progress in one place, with a few simple steps:

  • 1. Set up your business and customer MyInvois ready information.

  • 2. Create your invoice in Duitbooks.

  • 3. Check the required e-Invoice information.

  • 4. Submit the invoice to LHDN.

  • 5. Track the validation status.

  • 6. Send the validated invoice to your customer.

When to issue an eInvoice in Malaysia?

  • According to the LHDN's guideline, the implementation date depends on your annual turnover or revenue. As of 1 January 2026, taxpayers with annual turnover or revenue up to RM5 million are within the implementation timeline, while businesses with annual sales below RM1 million are currently exempt, subject to LHDN's exemption criteria.

  • For an individual transaction, e-Invoice issuance can be handled at the point of transaction or through an allowed post-transaction process, depending on the nature of the transaction and the applicable guidelines.

What are the requirements for a self-billed eInvoice in Malaysia?

  • A self-billed e-Invoice is issued by the buyer instead of the supplier, but it is only permitted for specific situations defined by LHDN. You cannot issue one simply because your supplier has not provided an e-Invoice.

  • Common situations covered by the guidelines include certain transactions involving foreign suppliers, agents, dealers or distributors and other specified circumstances. The buyer must issue the self-billed e-Invoice with the required supplier, buyer and transaction information and submit it to MyInvois for validation.

  • If your transaction falls within an LHDN-approved self-billing scenario, Duitbooks lets you create a self-billed e-Invoice using the same invoicing workflow. You can maintain the supplier information, create the self-billed document, submit it to LHDN and track its validation status without maintaining a separate record outside your accounting system.
